A new iPod

iPod touch 5th gen came in today, about a week before I thought it would. Have any of you guys preordered a new iPod?

Why pay lots of money for a 5th generation when I can save that money, jailbreak my 2nd or 3rd gen, and get half the stuff in the new gen from Cydia. So to answer your question, no. And since I don't NEED one, im not gonna go out and wast money because its the "newest" and "coolest" thing. Just saying :lol:

Not everyone has a jail broken phone / etc

Not everyone is rich enough to buy all of Apple's new products.

Although I agree with you, someone has to pre order it to make reviews for the people that don't pre order it.

Lol you don't have to be rich to get an Apple product. And as for reviews, that doesn't really matter much to me when it comes to something like an iPod. And I got the red one which is exclusively online, and if I preordered it I would get free shipping.

I have the 5th gen, and N104,
There no point JBing a 2nd or 3rd gen due to the fact it makes them laggy, ad most cydia tweats are aimed at the 4th gens or 5th gens.

I hate it how all the apps are in one spot it makes me angry when I'm searching for a new game or anything to add and my 2ndgen is not compatible. :evil:

I haven't jailbroken my 5th gen, but a jailbroken4 th gen is worth it.
I have a no JB 2ND gen :-O

There is one problem with iOS 6: They too out the old YouTube app!!! The new one is worse. I liked the old one more.

Your lucky i hate the youtube app its pointless cause i save the site in my book mark section. So the app is just taking up space...
Hey with the 2ndgen itouch can i upgrade it to the latests upgrade in itunes?

I restored it but it said it couldnt. It could either be my computer or it just wont allow me to.

No. The highest you can upgrade to is iOS 4.2.1. But you could get Whited00r which has a lot of iOS 5 things. Whited00r for ipod 2g MB and Red00r for ipod 2g MC. Even with Whited00r, you can't get iOS 5 (or above) apps on your 2g ipod yet; but they are working on it.

There is no point using that on a 2G due to the fact it will kill the processor speed.
And 4.2.1 is the best operating system.

No test its sped aginst a normal 2G and you'll notice the difference

Speed its about the same. Well if you open a password protected app, its takes time to enter the password. Every so often you'll get a SB crash. Other than that, it works normal i'de say.

To use 2G apps yes. It helps.

i think that technology is getting to the point where ipods are obsolete. Unless you cant afford a smart phone because of the data plan or something along those lines, OR you have parents who think cell phones are strictly for calling (like mine which is complete crap if you ask me) there is no reason to buy an ipod touch.

I just have an iPod and a crappy phone and that works.
