I can't get M to work on my computer. I'm running Windows 98 and believe the system matches all the program requirements. I tried looking through all of the other post, but didn't seem to find one that matches my exact problem.

I've read the readme file so many times I know it by heart. I've unistalled and reinstalled Microsoft .NET Framework 3 times. I've unistalled and reinstalled the whole M package twice. Everytime I open the program, and then click on anything other than the menu in the program, it brings up a window that says "This program has performed an illegal function and must be shut down." If I click on details, I get this:

M caused a general protection fault
in module 3DFX16V3.DRV at 0009:000001c9.

I'm good with computers, but I don't have much experience with civillian computer. Is there something simple I'm missing? Please advise.

3DFX16V3.DRV is the driver for a very old 3D video card made by 3dfx (bought by NVidia a few years ago). Windows is crashing inside of that driver. This driver is very old and not being maintained any longer. You need a new driver, or better yet get a new video card with up to date video drivers. Although not required by M, I also recommend installing Windows XP ;)

Good luck.
