How do to get little animations to appear on an avatar, like cloud's?

I tried that too and it said invalid file type.

I was using Photoshop and clicking the save button, but then I noticed that there was a save for web use button or something like that and I clicked it and I found out that that's how to finalize animations so I could use then on the web, and they're automatically saved as gifs and the thing I made took up only 11 kb of space.
