It would be nice if we had a double pts weekend, so more
ppl would start to play this game again.

It could be like a monthly thing. Like the first friday of every month.

Month would be way to long, who would want to wait that long for extra points? weekly sounds like the way to go.

If this idea were to be implemented I'd like to see the periods occurring at irregular intervals. If we have these periods occurring at regular intervals players might learn when these periods are and avoid logging on at other times.
It'd be nice if information about whether or not points are currently more easily transferred could only be available to players if they log into the game.

Or we just have a random day where instead of winning points, you win money.

Random irregular periods would be best. It could be made as an announcement on the forums(making people check it more often), or a permeant locked room for the week telling players the date of double points

Yeah just have it on random days I wouldn't think you would have to notify people when it happens though since it would be funner if it was a surprise to get extra points on a random day

I like the forum announcement better. It might help bring up forum activity a little.

I'd wanna know. How fun would it be if you lost double the points on random days?

Awesome idea trine! Since you came up with the idea, I think it's safe for us all to assume that you will fund it!

Would people lose double the points, cuz that might make some players not want to play.

I should say yes. If people that win gain double the points for winning, then the people that lose should lose double the points for losing
Maybe it could be based on ratings. Like if the winner has 400 or more points than the loser, the loser loses the normal amount (winner get double), but if there is less than 400 points between the winner and loser, than the loser would lose double the points. That might help keep things a little more fair for not as good players that VS pros.

Perhaps, but i doubt it. The people that don't care about their rating won't not play. The people that do care should be confident enough to win -- especially if they know they will get double the points for winning. People that care about points and don't wanna take the chance, can use a different account.

Good reasoning.

Due to the rating system of WI where the points lost from one player equal the points gained by the other, we can't change that so point changes are unequal.
If we did do this then pumping would be a lot more easy. For example if two players both with a rating of 2000 played, one might gain 40 points while the other loses 20. The ratings of the two players are now 2040 and 1980. If the players play again, and the player with 2040 intentionally loses, the winner will gain 40 while the loser loses 20. The scores of both players are now 2020.

To prevent pumping we will either have to monitor games for pumping extremely well, or we will have to keep the scoring system as is - where points lost equal points won.

Are you sure? I'm pretty sure the loser loses more than the winner gains. I always thought that it was to help prevent leaderboard inflation (as new accounts are made, they 'add' points to the leaderboard causing points to not be worth as much).

That whole statement is based on that if things were changed, the winner gains more than the loser loses. If the winner gained less than the loser loses (like I think it is now), that help would prevent pumping.

It would be interesting if for a day a month you could wager points on a match.

That would be cool, but pumping would be so easy to do and hard to police.

Maybe some kind of kill requirement, like it would have to be a close long match.

What would decide the line between a 'close long match' and a 'not close long match' or a 'close short match'?

The system could take the amount of points a player would normally win (or lose), multiply it by 2, and award (or remove) that many points from the player's rating.

Hard to do that with the unique maps though.
