This has been mentioned before, I think if you could private chat ingame it would solve both problems.

yes i brought whispering up with Nate Trine and Law once after scott left and we argued for hours about whispering because i kept complaining that there is no way for us to privatly chat to each other without having to open a game or make a private room....

but then it led to team chat and they said thye would mention it to scott which i never think any of them did :-/

but yeah it wont happen soon because scott still has a few more things to fix and to add open source before this will even come to his mind...

also remeber he has a wife two kids and a full time job soo we have to be patient

Whispering is an easier idea, it's purely server I think, so that would probably be more affective, wondy I meant both private and team speaking.

Imagine yourself in a game right now. You guys know where you can choose the option to use the chat? Well what about adding an option right under the "chat" button that says "team chat" for 2v2 maps. I think that would be effective.

Maybe if their was even an alert that said teammate under attack or hotness saying I need help rapidly would help.

Sam- Exactly.

Galm- An alert? That may take away from game-play though. If you had scanned the map well enough you would know if your teammate was under attack. But a quick way to alert your partner yourself, I agree that would be nice.

Wouldn't that only work if you knew who your partner was going to be way before hand? A code would work between you and your partner if you both are clan mates, friends, played a lot together, ect. A code wouldn't work if you didn't know your partner.

yeah but if someone finds out what the code is and knows it then theres no point i have an idea . ill mod a chat room picture and show you guys later but what im think is that there should be like little buttons that say ( TEAM or ALL ) team would let you chat to team and ALL would chat to all simple

heres my idea its just an example for the team chat thing so like these button that you tap to either talk to all or just the team mate

T is for TEAM = talk to team mates

A is for ALL = talk to all players

and when you tap on one of them they light up around the button to show that you are using the seletion

Typing "/team" to talk to teammates during a game is more time consuming and depending on the situation you may need to communicate with your teammate quickly. A button or an icon like Sam showed would be much quicker and also easier to figure out for new players.

@mat i did use the paint program a little bit but adobe is way better if you know what to do

@wonder yeah i do kindof agree with you, Just one button with the letter T or something and if you press it it lights up and that would mean you are talking to team and if you press it again the it would go back to dark and that would mean you are talking to all

but that picture i did was an example of what i thought it would be more easrier to understand to players like Enzo007 said

@slimjimninja if you had to type a command in then theres a chance you might be dieing when typing so that wouldnt really be a good idea with a button all you would have to do is tap and type

Yeah it would take long compare if we had a button . If we had a button it would be way faster then typing. (Team/. Hey ready to attack? ). The button would be like( -tap- hey ready to attack?)

/t sounds like the best. It could also be a toggle command. You type /t and every chat after that only goes to team mates. You type /t again and chats go to everyone. If your worried about it taking too much time, just toggle /t on at the beginning of the game.

Here's an image I made. My first message I said goes in main chat. Then I typed /t and the server tells me team chat is on; any message I say can now only be seen by my alliances. My next message, as you can see, just goes to my team. I now type /t again and the server tells me team chat is off. Next, when I type a message, it goes in the normal chat where anyone can see.
It would be nice (but I'm not sure if it's easily possible) to have it that team chat works while waiting to start the game. So I can chat with the person who will be my team mate as we wait for more players.

The only issue I see, is that to keep games fair, team chats need to be hidden from mods and admins (meaning, a mod/admin wouldn't be allowed to see the other team's team chat). The problem is, what if a player's team mate is saying offensive things to them?
Here's my ideas:
1: The player being swore at (or whatever is happening) just has to deal with it or ignore it till the game is over. Before they leave they can take screenshots and message them to an admin.
2: There could be a command that a player could type that would allow mods/admins to see the chats going on in their team chat (that could be a privacy issue because the other team mate(s), especially if they are being offensive, may not want mods/admins to see the team chat).
3: There could be an additional command like /it (it stands for 'ignore team') which would allow a player to not see team chats (or a player could use the /mute command).
