i think it would be great to have an option for parents to disable the chatroom for their children. just because sometimes a mod will not be present, or maybe the player will just be too young in the eyes of the parent to be talking with other players.

Most likely the people who play this game aren't really of that age where their parents think they are too young to be interacting with other players online. There may be a few exceptions of course, in the case that the parents are just very strict about this issue, but from what I've seen most parents of individuals my age allow online interaction.

In reality, what is an eleven year old or younger doing playing an RTS game like this? I take it that the majority of users on this game are teens and younger aged adults.

It might make this game more popular to parents that were shown the game by their kids if there was the option to disable the chatroom.

my parents had taken one of my sisters iPods in the past because of the words a player had said to her in the chartroom.
but I want my other sister to be able to play this game while keeping my parents happy knowing that she is not communicating with anyone.

doesn't this game still block the curse words. if people are still getting around it then mods should be more harsh to everyone.

dont we have the /chat command and it stops the player from viewing the chat?

if the chat room isnt safe for kids under 11 or what ever then its the mods falt and they should add more mods.

scottlu could alwasy go with a more stricter curse word finder

or make a pg room for kids and a xxx for everyone else

I love how you say the mods should be stricter and the filter should be tighter when before you said the filter should be gone and that the mods were to strict....

i was alwasy wanted the filter over the mod. i dont mind strict as long as its strict to everyone. some days mods are strict and other days they aren't. they pick and choose how much to be strict to.

I don't rly see how this applies to that many people, there's a curse censor and mods, plus there aren't that many 8 year olds playing, I hope people r smart enough that if they would get in trouble they don't play it in sitautions where they could get in trouble.

no the purpose of this would be to totally remove the communication element from the game.
/mute needs to be done every time one enters the chatroom
a permanent /mute would make sure the kid doesn't have the choice to talk to strangers or not.
as a mod I'm not going to stop somebody asking another person where they live or how old they are...

No point in disabling chartroom. You can already kinda do it now.

Just don't hit the chat button. Simple. Or
Make a game and stay there. Or
Make a new room and create a game

Maybe when you create a username there could be an option to prevent chat?
