I would like to start a map competition for the best map of each month. This will mostly be player-run, with the help of me moderating the event.

Here's how it will work:

Players will submit their favorite 3-5 maps made in the previous month(for example, in September you will submit your favorite 3-5 maps made in August). This will last for the first two weeks of the month.

The last two weeks of the month, players will vote on their favorite map out of the top most popular submitted. The map with the most votes wins.

The reward for the best map will be a room named after the map and the creator that will be up for an extended period of time.

All players are welcome to submit and vote on their favorite maps(not just map makers). However, map makers can not submit their own map(s) or vote for their own map(s). Maps can be submitted by either posting on the specified topic for that month, or you can PM me if you want your submission to be private. The same thing goes for votes.

If you have any questions about the map competition, this is the place to ask.

Happy mapping!

The Map Competition is currently inactive, which is why this topic is locked.

This is a great idea. I love it.
But I'm not sure what u mean by this Nate:

"All players are welcome to submit and vote on their favorite maps(not just map makers). However, if you are a map maker, you can not submit your own map or vote for your own map. You can submit your maps by either posting on the specified topic for that month, or you can PM me if you want your submission to be private. The same thing goes for votes. "

u say that map makers can't submit their maps to the best map list but then later you say we can.

And do updates count as maps made within the last month?

And my last question- is there an easy way to tell what maps have been made within the last month?

I meant that map makers can't submit and vote for their own maps, and players can submit and vote for maps by doing what it says after that. I have edited my post from a personal to a more generic standpoint to clear confusion. Thanks for the report.

For at least the first month, I will just have it be your favorite maps ever made. Map tastes change from month to month, and with any luck so will the maps being submitted. So at least for now, I can't answer your question.

No, unfortunately there isn't a way to view the maps made in a specific month other than viewing and downloading the mission pack of that month. I suggest that you look up the mission pack of the map you like on the forum, and see if it was created within that month.

As expected, there are a couple of rules that I did not specify in the first version of this competition. The new rules are as follows:

– All submitted and maps up for voting must be Add-On maps only. Do not include Challenge maps in our submissions. (such as Desert River Riches)
– The exact version of the map cannot be the winner two months in a row. A newer version of the map created in the following month which shows significant improvement can be submitted, though.
