.... to choose missions from. Would save digging through hundreds of missions just to launch another BOT 2v2 or whatever.

This is a good idea, however, I feel the search function previously mentioned would be an easier and better fix. The problem that players are experiencing is that mapmakers think that all of their maps are gold and that if someone plays one of them, they want to play all of them, which isn't true. Having huge map packs makes its near impossible to find the map a player is looking for and fills up pages and pages of names. This idea could be added to the list of solutions along with:

  • Creating a search bar
Limit the amount of maps allowed in a single pack

Post Posted: Mon Jul 05, 2010 10:13 pm  Post subject: Star rating system (talked about before)

The best way to do this is have a star rating system (1-5 including .5s), and then have the top-rated map flow towards the top. This was discussed on the June 25, 2010 Friday Chat, if anybody was there and remembers. A search would still be good however, for those maps that aren't at the list top, but you still like to play. I am in slight denial of the recently made maps because it has a strong possibility of being a non-favored map.

In addition, please continue the conversation about oversized mission packs in this topic, which I have recently posted on about this sort of thing.

if the star/rating happens then alot of the "golden maps" won't be played. since only a few are ever played. and if they go to the top then....hmmmmmm unless we have as a single player we can rate our own maps we play so our maps we play more often go straight to the top.(was that what your talking about Nate)

I understand and agree with what you are saying. I was talking about having all players rate maps, and then have it filter to the top that way. This would have the list be based on others' opinions. An individual rating and sorting system would certainly come in handy as well for the not as popular maps you may like.

I don't like the star rating because just because other players enjoy playing the map doesn't mean I'm going to enjoy it, and I feel that if I have to rate all of the maps to get the ones I want to filter to the top, that it would take too much time and could be fixed by implementing a simpler method.

All of this can be solved by the favorites list idea. This would be your own personal organization system of your favorite maps. I agree, others' opinions on maps may not be your own, and you may not want them effecting what map is on the top. Map ratings would probably be able to get raided with other IDs just like poll votes in the forums as well. I would customizable prefer a favorites list over anything.

As a responsible map maker I have split my 51 superpack into 4 minipacks, this gives players the option of only having a few of my maps if they want. But to be honest would your average player really give a hoot as to how many map they have to scroll through. And like he said if we have map ratings then players may only play the ones with 5* and never find any good ones. And maps that let everyone win Fuchs as co ops would allways get a 5* rating. I think a good option to impliment into the map selection list would be to order the maps, to mix maps from varios packs into an order of your likeing. This would mean no scrolling and you would have easy access to your fav maps.

Yes, I use it all the time. Usually when I pull someone over I read their license plate using it.
