I would like to purpose that there be some kind of map rating system, all to often i am left downloading maps that are half done and are amateurish. It would be easy to identify good maps by putting a golden star or something next to them, or the best maps could have stars put next to them so that new players will not be exposed to the arduous process of finding maps that are enjoyable.

I agree with you, there needs to be a rating system.

customer reviews of mappacks will help so much, both for the mapmaker and the map downloader

Yea i agree, there should be a rating system so all the map makers hard work can pay off by being recognized for map making.

Good idea rating system should go bye how many times it's gets played.
Let some maps go away keep the good ones and the ones nobody likes make better or delete them. I understand some are new map creaters so it's fine cause their new but the maps that arn't being played remove. Maybe later on in the future this will happen. When the map raiting systems up and been up for a while. |

Hey guys, check this out! I found an old thread that has this idea already on it! It's called Best Maps of the Month Award??. It's by JAO, who thought of this about a month and a half ago. Look at the thread and see if there is any similarity between his and this one. Have a nice day!

Seems like a good idea... Maybe we could just have polls or something first since its unlikely the map rating system will be put into action anytime soon?

Someone could make a poll with a HUGE number of options

Maybe start with about 10-20 nominations and set up a poll from there.
I would say Desert River Riches is the best. (Near) perfect balance on an asymmetrical map. |

Spiffcode maps are in a league ot their own and should be rated seperately

this isnt for built in maps (cuz they win by default) rankings are for user-made mappacks to help mappers improve and help players find a fun map pack with high ratings

Ok then. People should not be allowed to nominate their own maps either.
What categories should be implemented? I would suggest: Aesthetics -5 Gameplay -5 Balance -5 Misc. -5 Misc would include gameplay quirks such as timers, AI, etc. So the overall rating is upon 20. |

So wat. are we going to vote on map packs or individual maps? oh and voting wont work cause of multiple accounts. and not many people may visit the voting page so we would have to find a way to get more page views

Individual maps. As for multiple accounts, there's no choice but to trust voters.
Getting people to find the polling page is something I am not sure how to fix. |

@ t-33 we shud make them of different value, because balance and gameplay are much more important than aesthetics.
gameplay - 6 balance - 8 aesthetics - 3 uniqueness - 3 |

Maybe:
Gameplay - 7 Balance - 6 Aesthetics - 4 Uniqueness - 3 |

Ya know we could make it simpler for the voters, they could just vote for a map and that map wins. We could start with that and if it works ad rating of maps.
