Hi everyone,
Apple announced iPhone OS 4.0 today. One of the features it has, is a social network gaming service, that keeps track of your games, your high scores, leaderboards, achievements, etc. This is a pretty exciting addition that I will look at integrating into WI. They didn't give much detail on how it works or what features it provides, so it isn't possible yet to say what changes will come to WI. It sounds like it is still very much in development. As I hear more I'll post here, or if any of you hear more, please post here. Thanks. |

Awsome, this will probably be pretty cool. Apple never gives out much information about anything, probably to get hype. I just hope the 4.0 update doesn't cost me $10 like the 3.0 did.

What is that exactly? Please excuse me if it is something that is a very common term and I am unfamiliar, I tend to be behind on those lately. Please elaborate elamre. |

I agree, ads are annoying. I predict though that there will be paid versions of the applications, that won't have ads, just like today. I think this only means that free apps get more ads.

Explain? its impented. probally easier acces for developers. and maybe a nice "look for games" section. apple does it always better, not inovative though. |

All the new iPhone is, is a jailbroken iphone basically. The only worthwhile aspect is a longer battery life

The iPhone 4 came out yesterday, and it looks pretty sweet. Here's a few of web pages about it:
http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-apple-20100608,0,5151821.story?track=rss http://news.yahoo.com/s/pcworld/20100608/tc_pcworld/iphone4whatyouneedtoknow_1 http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-20006959-1.html http://www.thebitbag.com/2010/06/08/apple-wwdc-2010-the-iphone-4-and-ios-4/ The fourth link basicaly explains everything. Towards the bottom of the second and third webpage, it says that the iOS 4.0 will be available for free download June 21. Yes, I don't have to pay $5 or $10 like I did for 3.0 Now my question is, will this app be out for beta testing for 4.0 on June 21? Also, after doing some research it seems like the new gaming score system doesn't seem to be one of the main key features. It brushes on it on the fourth link, but I wanted a little more information. After doing a little more research, I found a page on the iOS 4 on IGN, one of the biggest gaming sites on the internet. Here's a link to an artice written from a gamer's perspective: http://wireless.ign.com/articles/109/1095596p1.html Towards the end of this article it mentions the new Gaming Center. It describes it as basically being one center for every online game and having only one ID. From this another question arises: How will this change Warfare Incorporated? I'm not completely sure if i understand this, but it kind of sounds like some kind of OpenFaint system where it's all one mega-leaderboard. It is compaired to the Xbox-Live system often. Scott, any more information on this? |

Yeah I did a lot of research last night. Probably about two hours of googling and Yahoo News. I could blab on and on about the new features, but I'll just stick to the Game Center for now. The sites listed above were the most informative, especially the fourth. If you just want to learn about the Gaming Center look at the fourth and fifth ones. If you just want to learn about the new iPhone 4 and iOS 4(I couldn't find an informative site that didn't have iPhone 4 stuff in it), than ignore the fifth one. That is written from a whole different perpective from the other four. By reading all of these and maybe a couple Apple web pages about it, you'll know all you need to know for iOS 4.

The video on my fifth link right? That video was pretty cool; it showed some of the things that the new OS and mostly the new iPhone will have. By the way I found another link that describes the Game Center even a little more. This will probably be the last link I will give.
http://www.pcworld.com/article/193877/iphone_os_40_a_features_report_card.html Remember to check out Apple's website on this stuff as well. I couldn't find any information on the Game Center there, but there is some stuff there that isn't included in other websites. Can't wait for June 21! |

Apple is smart by making the official iPhone have the features that the Jailbroken devices have, which in turn deters the "Casual" jailbreakers, who would just jailbreak their devices for the increased customization.

prevention measures are taken AFTER the certain problem occurs, so im just saying, Apple should be one step further on their security. Jailbreakers are gonna find more and better ways to lure ppl to hack their ipods, so Apple has to kind of "predict their next move"
