Player names

Hi everyone,

Would it be good, or bad, to be able to see the different player names that players use?

Probably more like a web page where you could see all the player names of a given player.

I would like to see all of the players other accounts. There's getting to be WAY too many secondary and third accounts and I can't keep track of them. Some are realy good players just trying to get our ranting down.

Some people have imposter accounts that try to give others a bad rep. So I say do it pleeeeease!!!

I think if this were there from the beginning, there would be no complaints, but if I made it available now, people who are trying to hide their other account names would complain. What do you think?

Most hidders don't use the forums and only use their "hidding" account for the worse of other players. Some use it to bring other players accounts down, and the ones that have multiple accounts and don't do that most likely wouldn't care if their other accounts were known. This would solve many problems of whos who, which can be very confusing.

But how would we know would the hiders wouldn't just answer because all of their accounts have second emails. I am galm for talking and testing maps, omicron for playing with good opponents or showdowns, shadow 1, well u guys know, D.E.M. Fir experimenting new strategies (i probably should have just been anon oops) and Demon Lord is my main one I've been using.

Maybe the mods be albe to find out the other accounts and the clan mods as well. Their should be a code of honor before they are able to look like if they spread the word on other accounts they well no longer be a mod that goes for the big mods like scottlu and berly.

Of course they can tell their clans if they need to but have to pm the messages?

Or maybe if you can set it up so we all can see the list but we have to type in two names to see if they match like that board game with pictures. I think it's called pictuarnary

For this to be fair, we should have the option of letting other players see our other id's. But I think that we have to remember that this is just a game not some crazy witch hunt, looking for those that have 2 or more id's

Here is my idea allow only mods (like wonderer said)
and if a player has an issue with an imposter or whatever the case may be then that person could ask a mod to find out who that person is.

But I'm also ok with everybody seeing

very good idea! but hiw does it work!? u cant register with the same e-mail adress!? u can see all player names only with the ip adress of the gamer right!? so it make only sense if everybody can see the multiple acc because scott is able to see them allready nate! i would be nice too see all player names so let the game begin

No this is not a good idea. Hidding your name under a different account makes the game more interesting. If everyone could see who you are in your other account then that would ruin the fun of the player and the gAme.

This idea is only "bad" in the eyes of the people who have something to hide like the people who use this ability to hide their account and start problems with other players.

I feel very strongly that this should be the first priorety right now because the quality of this game is being hindered at the cost of a couple of peoples bad humor

I don't think this should be even close to top priority Nate, u would rather gave name identification then new units or something? I also think alot of tension is gone with ringor having left. The fighting is much lower scale.

Galm read my name! It was KILIK who said it should be top priority, not me, even though we agree. We coud let the players decide if they want all of thier IDs shown, or just which ones the want shown. Ther is now a ScottIu as well now. I have also realized why people use the I in place of an L. In the chat room lowercase L and capitol i look the same so people could get confused. The i's in a chat room sould show up like an I, not l.

How about this. If someone is pretending to be you and is really causing a problem, let me know and I will take a look. I will ask them to stop. I won't reveal who they are.

Pretenders should be banned automatically. I got in a lot of trouble before because those copycats kept on talking crap and people actually thought it was me doing it. So far I've discovered about 4 copycats of me. There's probably more but I don't have time to investigate these things.

I agree val it is very disrespectful to do and can harm one's reputation. It is totally not acceptable.

The l's being replaced with i's are especially bad because there is almost no way to tell. There were a few of these misspelled player names that were used in the last 60 days:

I've disabled these so they can no longer be used. In addition I've written some code so that I easily find out when these kinds of player names are being used. But still, tell me when you see it.

Lawrence and other mods: I removed the ip visibility. One of the mods took a pic of the ip addresses and posted it to the forum, which breaches the player's privacy, so I thought it would be best to remove that option. If you think you need ip addresses, PM me and tell me what the problem is, and I will help.

Thanks for deleting some of those fake ids Scott. On a side note, I think it's really funny that the word "crap" is being replaced by "small tuna" hahaha!
