Just want to say that this is one of the best game ever played. On any system!!! Anyway, I read somewhere that the upgrade to this game will be free, is that right? I can't wait if that is true. Also, how will i find out where the next upgrade is going to be? Or more importantly, WHEN is it going to be? Please tell me it is soon so I don't have to wait too long. I also think that this game should be a little longer for my money, may be a random map generation mode so I can play against different CPU in a different map?

The updates will be free. That means that any fixes to bugs will be released to patch problems that have been encountered. Also multiplayer will be included for free to anyone who has purchased the single player version.
Expansion packs (if there are any) will likely be an additional charge.
The updates will be annouced in the forums and any other locations that make sense.
As for when the updates will be released, they will appear as soon as they have been tested to ensure that we aren't adding any bugs along the way.

so, in the next version can we expect more challenge maps? or maybe randomly generated maps? and it be free for us that actually paid the $30?

All the work that is being done right now will be released for free to users who own the game. The idea all along was to get the single player version out there so that people would get excited about the game, then release the multiplayer version so that people would continue to enjoy the game.

There are several different updates currently being worked on. M, the mission editor/creator will be release in the very near future. Other releases have not yet been decided.

If any release in the next year has multiplayer, map editor, and skirmish vs CPU modes, I will eat my pants, sell Warcraft, and promise to buy everyone I know a Zodiac and a copy of WI.
PS: I won't actually buy them that stuff, but I'll promise to.
