There are many enhancement request on here that sound great, but before anything else is considered, please add background music!
I absolutely love warfare inc., but wouldn't some music really add to the atmosphere?
If it is too time consuming to write the music, why not let users choose some mp3 or mod files of there own to play in the background?

CPU Time?
Surely, you could play MP3s with e.g. PocketTunes in the background, but the music has nothing to do with the game and will therefore not add to the atmosphere. I agree that music would be a great feature.
WarfareMusic.pdb (3 mb). That would really be something, eh!

Yes you can but you will notice a performance decrease, now try that on a slower unit and you will face even greater performance degradation.

not to mention that there are a multitude of sound issues currently. i have to run my sony nx70v with the sound off. but theatrical music similar to star craft would be awesome.

You're right about the sound issues, on my h1940 iPaq, every now and again, especially with the construction complete announcements I get pops in the sound. not very pleasant. I have to play command and conquer wma files in media player, and turn the game sounds off!

I know this is kinda late... but why not just use MIDI? and also have seperate checkboxes for muting sound effects and muting music. Also, I think that the problem with the 1940 popping with some of the sound effects is due to the small speaker in the 1940 compared to other models, I have this model as well and when comparing it to a 2200 and a 3700, both of them have no problems with cracking and the 3700 is almost 2 years old.

The iPaq 1910 and 1940 have some popping issues. The device speakers are all different and show different behaviors.
rjpatrick2: Please sign up for the OS 5 beta test. The audio issues on the NX70 have been resolved. Not to mention that version will allow you to play landscape on your device.

I'm a musician, I've been composing music for nearly 10 years...
If performance issues could be solved/optimized....
I would be very willing to compose music for this killer little game.
All I would ask is to get my place in the credits and to keep the copyrights for all material used.

Of course you wouldnt use just any mp3s. I ripped the music from my starcraft game and stream that in the background. That is very cool!!
I have the files if any one whants them. Unless that is against the rules i am not sure.[/quote]

How about very low quality mp3 music? I use AeroPlayer to play music i've changed to a lower quality, and things like Warfare Inc. and Daedakys 3D work fine! (I have a Zire 71)
An AeroPlayer plugin for Warfare Incorporated, only for, oh, Zire 71 and faster, so that you can play some compact, low quality music, and change it from a jukebox-like thing in the sound menu on the options screen.
And for slower devices, the Fidelity Music Engine, or no music at all.

I've tried MMPlayer with midi. It slows down the Palm PC dramatically, and makes it very unstable.
It's harder for such a small processor to have to play several synthetic instruments in the background.
An alternative to MIDI is the Fidelity Engine - It's quicker, a lot like MIDI, and i've seen Flames Demo with it.

What about .xm modules? I know that they are used in Snails as background music. Yes, I know that Snails isn't in realtime, but considering the AI and all of the effects, it probably comes pretty close.
You can create .xm mods with programs like mod tracker, if anyone cares to investigate.

I don't know what music format AOE:PPC uses, but it works!
