Post Posted: Sat Jun 04, 2005 2:25 pm  Post subject: Clans

Since the beginning of multiplayer, the question has come up: "Should we have clans?"

The idea has been shunned, because nobody would join a clan. There are far too few people that play multiplayer to make a clan, and making a rival clan would require more people on top of that.

But the creators are making a server, so we don't have to host games or fiddle with our networks or any of that. The work that needs to be done to play a warfare game will be halved. Since the amount of work goes down, the amount of players will skyrocket!

More players means that it's possible to have a clan. So the requirement of players is met, but what would a clan do?

Clan wars! Each month or so, clans can have interclan tournaments to see who will represent their clan in the clan war. Then, each clan can have those players meet and battle it out, to see who brings home the "Golden Dominion"!

Of course, that's just an idea. There are countless possibilities of things we could do with clans. It adds to the excitement of warfare. It makes the game more fun. :D

So what do you, the players, think? I think it's a good idea. Hudra has offered to make a clan if the idea takes off, and I'd be glad to lead a rival clan into battle.

Cast your vote  and please post why you cast what you did.

Happy voting :)

Questions:

"How will we have a clan vs clan game if it's free for all?"
We can make special 2v2 maps, where we choose who our allies are and where we will be. We can have a collection of these somewhere, and they can be the official "clan maps".

how do you have a clan when your teamates are on different teams, and you are pretty much forced to attack them?

What I mean is say I am in a clan and someone else is in the same one. We join a game and I'm blue and the other dude is red. Even if we are allies, the computers will think that we are foes and make us attack eachother. Also, when you make a level and say Side 1 allies with Side 2, doesn't it randomize who is on the sides?

Yea, but when you are attacking someones base, actually when the clan members are attacking the dudes base, it will be like a 3 way fight.

There's a simple answer to all of this!

We make special 2v2 maps. I've done one before, it's a piece of cake. We set it up so that the players' locations are decided already, and we'll have a few in-game triggers to set up the teams.

It's possible. In fact, if you want me to do it right now, I'll make one.

Yea, but when you join the game, the positions are random. I could get Blue, Red, Yellow, or Light Blue when I join the game. I MIGHT END UP JOINING SOMEONES ELSES CLAN!

That doesn't solve the random placement though.

Players 1 and 2 are on clan A, players 3 and 4 are on clan B.

Code:
1.4
...
3.2

Not very good. This proof-of-concept map that I'm making right now will allow you to fairly choose what side you're on, and once everyone's ready it will give you galaxite and enable transforming.

He is probably going to have to install some sort of "mod" to warfare to get this to work.

Good luck, Verdagon! We all know you can do it, and were counting on you for the clan!

It should come sometime next week. they gave me the cheap shipping, so I shouldn't expect it anytime soon.

It is being shipped via USPS

Anyway, I thought that this forum was for the clans, not about my Wi-Fi card. So whats our name gunna be anyway? *BORG*? According to !HUDRA! thats what it is. One more thing, With the way warfare was built, shouldn't there be only 2 members in a clan when playing via multiplayer?
Anyway, I might become a HOSTer for our clan along with Hudra and Verdagon.

Well we havent REALY decided yet but I was teh one who got the clan idea and then we got into a big conversation for cuple hours. So I should name it but verdagon is the leader so he has a bigger right over me im in second in comand if it starts. Hay guitarust Alfleker might join too I think so he can HOST to.

Well Vertegon decided it be named TR The Rebellion was trying to name it after my best clan called TE The Empire but Verdagon decided to tweek it a bit.

So, basically I just got kicked out of the clan?
If Verdagon is the highest rank and You are the 2nd rank, I am the third rank, which means that I got kicked out because there are only 2 peeps in a clan.

<<AHHHH!!!>>

I should start up my own clan... he he.

In clan wars, 2 players can be the "best warriors" or "representatives" or whoever's turn it is, something like that. A clan can have more than 2 people in it. I'm expecting somewhere around 10-20 people per clan, but it's just a guess.

I don't know what his clan's name is going to be, and I haven't decided on my clan's name. I think I'll consult some more people before I decide on that.

I'm going to wait until we have 8-10 votes on having clans. That way, clans can have 4-5 members, which is a fair size.

About the maps, making 2v2 maps will be custom, so they won't be included in the warfare game, like Spokes or Battle Island, etc.

So I had this idea... since there's going to be separate websites for each clan, why not have a sort of W2C2 (World Wide Clan Consortium (Lol, got that name from the W3C)) as a directory of active clans, and a place to download a "Clan Pack", a collection of 10 or so 2v2 maps specially made for clans. These can be the standard maps.

What do you guys think of my idea?

I'm a webmaster, I can host my clan's website. I can probably also host the W2C2 but that might require buying another domain...

Same here, you cant make a www.NAME.com for free. it has to be a subdomain at the best. like www.NAME.50webs.com -- thats free!

It's where all the clans are connected. The W2C2 (the Worldwide Warfare Clan Consortium or some lame name like that) will have schedules for clan wars, and it will have the standard 2v2 maps on it, and so on.

Unfortunately, verdagon.com might take a while to get back up... they aren't responding to my emails.

Besides, it makes you look like a weakling when you crumble so soon. Is this how you treat your other five clans?

Hudra stop whining. It doesn't matter how many people are in your clan. In fact, when I created mine I expected nobody to join... but did I give it up?

Hang in there, people will come to you.

And guitarist, it's Quality vs Quantity here. Fortunately, there's a limit on Quantity in warfare, so I am clearly at an advantage.

0 + 0 < 25 (I think)

Now for some math
2 + 2 >2
5 + 5 < 55
219 + 219 = 438
You + Guest = $0.00
