Description:Shhh.... the computer is thinking.... Well, not really, but it does a pretty good impression. This mission loosely simulates Artificial Intelligence, a concept Verdagon came up with a couple months ago, and this is a joint venture between the two of us. Kudos to Verdagon for a really slick concept and a killer layout! This mission not only responds to what you build, it also responds to what you do! Not only that, it has a couple strategies of its own to try out on you!

The plot: Omni has taken control of a key pass through the mountains. Build a base and clear the pass for Acme's offensive!

Not more challening missions...

Couldn't you give players like me a chance? Please?

Good work on AI/kind of AI/not AI at all but you're calling it that to make it sound good by the way. I'll have to try this out.

I couldn't resist a little marketing...

Although I never said it was AI, I said it just simulates AI, and loosely, at that.

All smoke and mirrors? Maybe. But try the mission, and make only rocket troopers. Then try again with only Hydras. You'll see what I mean.

... then try it again with a full-fledged force. You'll see what he means.

So...the best way to combat this is to make like 20 security guards, troopers, raiders, hydras, eagles, liberators, broadswords, cyclops, dominions, and bullpups.

Yep. Or what I like to do is make a 20-trooper, 4-liberator, 16-hydra and back it up with about ten cyclopses....

Always worked for me.

You described the AI, but can you describe more of the mission please?

Rocket troopers counter cyclops... cyclops do the least damage to them. They do more damage to vehicles than infantry. But, still, what is this mission about?

Heh. Oops, sorry, UGMC! Didn't see your post, up there. :)

Yeah. Describing the plot might actually be a good idea (duh! Stupid me.) I'll edit the upload accordingly. It's fairly simple, really. Omni is in control of the mountain pass. Destroy Omni and take possession of the pass. That's basically it.

Kudos to the most challenging and fun mission I've played yet! It took me several times to get a plan that held ground. I tried to beat this one with only infantry - to my great demise! I'm looking forward to more displays of great talent out there.

Does OMNI send small forces to constantly harass you? Cuz I'm addicted to towers after playing UGMC's Portal.

Merlinus, I LOVE playing towers in this level! Try "leapfrogging" your base upwards into the pass as you go! (hint - I also love to use corp--- wait, I'm giving too much away! )

Nope! Uh-uh. I like using them too much. Well, okay. If everyone feels they unbalance the level too much, we can remove them on the hard setting. Is that a good compromise?

But then, it would be kinda unfair if the COMPUTER had...

OOPS! I did it again!

Actually, you don't need to use raiders to win this level. I just like to use 'em. Why destroy a building when you can take it over? That way, your troops can be built there and gotten to the front quicker.

Come to think of it, I don't think there is a single tactic you absolutely must use to beat this level. Since the computer responds to what you do, it very much depends on your style of play. The way that works best for you in other missions (with perhaps a little adjustment) is your best bet.

Does the comp do anything if you build towers?

What the computer specifically does about towers depends on the circumstances, but the short answer is "yes." Build alot of towers and the computer will come along and knock'em right back down again. I've tried using nothing but towers, and leapfrogging them, but it didn't work so well without a backup. Either the terrain wasn't hospitable to new structures, or the computer's response was too great.

I CAN tell you that it is impossible to write triggers for every conceivable situation, so you may find a way to win that the computer really isn't equipped to handle. When there are this many triggers interracting with each other, though, the computer seems to take on a life of it's own, and it gets hard even for a mission's author to predict what a given response will be.

I was, actually... I'm sooo confused! Must not've seen the little blue '2' in this topic when I posted, so it didn't appear in order.
