So I deleted the game from my Tungsten T2 by mistake, got a new licence key, reloaded it (v1.2) - and it's soooo slow. Game speed now says '8x' instead of the old 1-100 scale, and I just can't get it any faster. What's happened? Is there a newer version out there? Or an enhancement or something? I used to have Mission Editor on my Palm, too, but can't now seem to load it on. Can anyone help please?

If the 8x speed is too slow for you, go into car racing.

no doubt. Jeez. I thought 2x was bad enough. We can't play over 4x on the Internet.

Ha ha. Car racing comment made my laugh. But no - it really is slow. Must be something to do with my Palm. Maybe I'll try to re-install or something. Do the Handmark guys have any ideas?

You mean, the 8 times time compression is about as fast as 1 or 2 before?

No - I mean that my previous scale was not even 1-8, it was 0-100, % I guess, and I tended to play at somewhere between 50-80 since 100 was incredibly fast. I reckon the x8 is equivalent to my old 70, so if you imagine that half as fast again for the 100 setting, you get the picture. Most games were almost unplayable at that speed, but quite fun if you knew your way round the easy bits. Don't know if relevant, but I didn't get the 'loading' screen when I was loading games either on this previous version - just a rapidly changing line of text and figures along the bottom of a blank screen before the game appeared.

Found the answer to this one recently - if you turn off the password protection setting for the Palm Tungsten the speed comes back - something to do with the device counting away in the background, I guess...
