From reading Verdagon's great Mission Editor FAQ the thought ocurred to me there isn't one of these. For the # quantity you could put a command like "rand 5". I don't know how useful it would be though...

I didnt know that you could do that... are you sure? I've never heard of a random number generator in Warfare.

Sorry I didn't make myself clear. Thats what I meant, I was suggesting this as an new option when setting the number variables.

I don't really see the point of it, other then really confusing the user (which is always fun).

It could add to the replay value of a level. Okay maybe what I am suggesting is a random option in general. Like having the computer randomly choose between units to build to make you prepare for all possibilities. Or maybe randomly choose between four different locations for the enemy base.

A random number generator can be simulated by having triggers add to a counter whenever a unit crosses an area. The easiest spot for these are at base entry points, in front of prebuilt galaxite processors, or other high traffic areas. Another trigger resets the counter to zero when it hits a high number.
Other triggers can watch an area and make things happen for a specific number or a set of random numbers using > and < tests. These should probably change the number to outside their range or wait so they don't trigger immediately again.

I think a "random" condition would be nice in a future edition of the level editor. Like, an event could trigger anytime in a level, which would be different every time. That would be interesting.

To an experienced map maker a random number could change the style of maps dramatically. No co op would ever be the same. There could be maze maps that change depending on the numbers generated. The possibilites of unlimited randomness maps are HUGE
