Post Posted: Mon Jun 28, 2004 12:32 pm  Post subject: VOTE NOW!!! Best Single Player Missions?

Which single player missions do you all think are the best? This was a question asked by an unmentioned person, and I'm wondering the same thing.

So I have set up a contest. In this thread, I asked for people to nominate maps. It's been seven days since that time, and now the nominees are here:

Return of Fox, by Verdagon
Replicator Hazard, by Solan
Portal, by UGMC
New World, by UGMC
Cyanide, by Crakerz
Guerrillas in the Mist, by PhillipEarl
Tables Turned, by Spiffcode

So the poll is up! Vote now! The poll will end on July 12th, at 8:00 pm (GMT-8.)

Whoever wins this poll will be the first "featured map" on http://warfareinc.tk/ for a month.
The author of the winning map will also be the "Author of the month".
Cool huh?

May the best mission(s) win.

I was going to try a poll but I cant have enough options. It won't let me! So I'm getting people to nominate levels. Surely not all levels will be nominated...

Eventually I'm going to put the nominees in a poll. That poll will take place in 2 days.

Oh. In that case, I'll nominate Replicator Hazard. :) There's alot of good missions in the sharing forum, but that one is still my favorite.

I want to nominate Portal, since everyone else is being so self-conceited like that.

As the newb who asked the question, thanks for doing this!

Are you polling for good MP maps or also SP? Are most maps playable as both? The descriptions I saw seemed primarily MP. Perhaps two polls?

YES. An MP poll please please please with Hydras on top. I only play over the Internet now, so I would nominate "The Front Lines" map for built-in category and "VB2 - Hidden Paths" in the user-built category.

Tylertoo: No, this contest is for single player missions only.

Alfex: Okay, I'll make a MP poll in another thread. I'm not really sure about you nominating the front lines, though because it is built in and we have no idea who made it... I guess if that one won we would have to name the game creators as the mapmakers of the month... Thanks for nominating my Hidden Paths map, lol...

UGMC, I alreayd nominated my map, but thanks for thinking of it!

Well, we were SUPPOSED to be voting tomorrow, but we only have a few nominees! We need more time because not all the people have seen this thread. We vote in four days, on July 4th, and the poll goes through July 12th, my birthday.

You don't vote yet. You see, That was the original plan: to put all the maps into one big poll and have everyone vote. But I couldn't have that many options in my poll! I had to use less maps. I'm thinking if I let people nominate them, not all the maps would show up. Therefore, less options. So nominate your maps and they'll appear as an option.

Nominate the maps, and THEN they'll appear in the poll... the poll should appear in 3 or 4 days.

I voted for Verdagon's campaign (I hope this isn't a private poll) because it doesn't seem right voting for myself. Besides, I love the level OMNI wall anyway!

Good point, lol. Never thought of that.

Dws, its good to know that even inactive members can be inactively active. (If you don't understand that, dont worry. Neither do I, anyway...)

I would never blame you for being lazy UGMC. Some people just have a knack

Anyway, I was just trying to something like that one joke that goes:

So you want the day off?
There are 365 days in the year. You spend eight hours a day sleeping, for 122 days total. You don't work any of the 52 weekends, which cuts off another 102 days, leaving us only 141 days. Commuting and "time with the family" consumes another eight hours per day, bring us down to 39 days available for work. You also get 14 paid holidays and 10 paid sick days a year, plus two weeks vacation, for a total of 38 days, leaving only one day a year available for work, and you want it off!?!?!?!?

Well, my birthday is in two days, and that's when the poll's gonna end.

Someone else vote! And not for my campaign! I don't even know why I put it in there. I don't want my own map as a "map of the month" on my own site lol.

I only nominated Portal. Verdagon did the New World Campaign thing. No, I'm not trying to saturate the poll with my levels just so I can win.

Actually saturating polls with your levels would get you to LOSE. If people like your two maps evenly, they would have to choose between one or the other. Then you'd get two maps with a few votes instead of one map with many votes. I learned that the hard way... *sniff* that zodiacgamer contest would have been MINE...

That's right. The next time I set up a poll like this will be August 16th. People can nominate levels until August 23rd, and then the voting will go until August 30th.

And yes, DWS, I know. It feels good knowing that people like my level but I still really don't want to win. lol!

The poll will end in 8 hours. I hope more people vote.

The poll is ending in 30 minutes. If any more votes are going to be made, they have to be done now.

I hope I get home in time for the end... lol...

Somebody vote for someone other than me. I can't win.

Precisely 14 days after construction on the Maps of the Month section is complete. It's taking a really long time to get it up, because I'm making the two sites PHP/Database driven, and it's taking up a lot of time. You see, the whole site is operated from the "command center", a whole other site. It's at http://wic.verdagon.com/ but only the staff can get in.

This command center has around 15 sections. The "Maps of the Month" section is the tenth section, currently I'm completing the eigth section.

...so it might take a while. Sorry about that. The new "maps of the month" sections will be up and operational in a few days, and 14 days after that we'll begin nominating maps for the next month. 7 days after that, the poll will be set up. 7 days after that, the contest will be over and the Map of the Month will be up.

Yeah I know. Confusing as hell. We're working on it though...
