Why do certain levels freeze up certain people's handhelds? I have a Pocket PC HP Ipaq 2215 with plenty of memory and all that. There are several levels I have made that freezes up my game after 1-2 minutes of gameplay, and I have to hit the reset button on my PPC.

Does anyone have ideas on what triggers these freezings? Is it too many sides at once? Too many units? Completely random? I just don't get it. Does anyone else have ideas?

This was a problem during beta, that I hope may be somewhat alleviated with the release of the next level editor. Basically, there is something wrong with your level that the editor doesn't catch. It can be one of many things. To find the offending item(s), you could delete one trigger at a time (save a backup first!). If that doesn't solve it, then start deleting objects.

When I built FragTag, it locked up. The fault was related to objects I had placed, not triggers, switches, or unit groups.

What device do you use? I hear that some levels that work on Palms don't on Pocket PC's, and vice-versa.

Naw, I like Pocket PC better. My 2215 is very reliable, and I've seen how bad my friend's Zire 71 was.

Lets agree to disagree.

And besides, I'm just kidding. I have both a Zodiac1 AND an ipaq 4350. Zodiac is a lot better for games... wish it could do multiplayer internet...

Anyway, Crakerz, what did the bug end up being? A wall placed on another? Buildings too close together? Something outside the map? I just don't get what could cause the game to freeze after a minute of gameplay when it did not do it at level load.

The bug in FragTag happened immeditately on load. I'm still not sure what caused it. I only know what the solution was. A wall-on-wall wouldn't have caused it as the editor catches that one, as well as catching the other ones you mentioned

Somethines, a freeze-bug is caused when a limit is exceeded that either isn't caught by the editor, or is exceeded during game play. More commonly, the way a trigger is set up causes a logic loop to occur that results in a freeze. These can't really be detected by the editor. Few compilers are sophisticated enough to detect logical errors, just syntax errors.

If you have a particular level you would like for me to try and ID the bug, email the ld file at crakercrumbs@hotmail.com and I'll look at it.

I'll check some of the level's limits. If that doesn't work, can I send you the files over PM instead?
