Posted: Tue Jun 15, 2004 5:43 am Post subject: Need help in setting up Multiplayer mode using Bluetooth |
I have purchased a copy of WI and contemplating buying another copy to play with a friend via bluetooth. Using a demo copy I tried to connect to his pda but cannot seem to get connected at all. Can someone help by giving me some step by step instructions how to configure our 2 pdas? We are both using O2 XDA2. Really appreciate it. When one of the machines is set up as host, the other pda keeps searching for a game but cannot find any. Thanks!!!

First, you have to make sure that both PDA's have bluetooth. Second, if all you wnat to do is by the other copy to play multiplayer, don't, becuase if the person who has the full version hosts the game you can play any map. After you have checked that both devices have bluetooth, make sure that the bluetooth is turned on with both devices. When that is done, have one of the devices host and the other join.

Hi, thanks I have done just that. Set both pdas to bluetooth on (tried discoverable mode too). But after one host, the other party search. It just keeps searching.... Do the two devices need to bond first? Or is there any other bluetooth settings I must set? Please help!!!

Never encountered this problem, like you said, pairing the devices may help. Also, remove all the crap inbetween the two PDAs like TVs, metal objects, etc.

Both devices need to bond as Verdagon said. Turn both devices on and put one in discover mode. Once it finds the other, then you will have to put in a security code on one of the devices, which u make up.
Some devices cannot discover other devices. This is a major issue with some Bluetooth (BT) devices. This sounds like one of those.
Sorry not much help.

It it is hard to connect up... sometimes it plain doesn't work the first time. Usually, when we re-enter WI or the bluetooth screen, it will show up. And yes, the closer you are seems to make the game run faster.
