JOINing a game: Go to "JOIN OR HOST A GAME" screen.
Tap SPECIFY button and enter one of the IP numbers above, then tap OK. After tapping OK you should see Games: HOSTXxX game on your PDA. Game HOSTers should start within 2-3 min. after you tap both, the game HOSTer’s name and READY. All players must join within a 3 min. window or else the first player’s WiFi radio will turn off and disconnect them from the game. You can change this to 15 min. on some devices. When 3 or 4 players have joined a game, the HOSTer will start the game. HOSTs will be in the WAITING mode for 5-10 min. because that is usually the timeout for WiFi on HOSTing devices. The default timeout is 3 min. for most JOINers. In other words, a HOST has 3 min. from when the first JOINer till the last JOINer enters the game to start the game. Games are usually ~45 min. long at the 1.6x game speed. For more info about HOSTing or JOINing click the following link: http://www.handmark.com/warfare/forum/viewtopic.php?p=5194#5194 Lagging issues can be found here: http://www.handmark.com/warfare/forum/viewtopic.php?t=992 Last edited by alfex on Wed Dec 28, 2005 4:51 pm; edited 38 times in total |

I just want to reiterate (repeat) that our IP number has changed. Please note the change in Alfex post above.

I have discovered that the IP numbers (IP#) we post for playing Warfare Inc. over the Internet change, frequently without our knowledge. This makes posting HOST IP#s almost impossible. I suggest using IMs in future to set up a game at the posted times on the forums or web sites. The IP#s change too often to keep changing the various web sites and forums. You can obtain a fixed or static IP# for $5-10/ month. We cannot do this now.
Using www.whatismyIP.com will help HOSTs see the changes over time. Example: I had one IP# for over a month and now I have had 2 different IP#s over the last 2 weeks. The summer months cause overheating problems and more resets. IMHO Cable users may have their IP numbers changed as often as 3 times a day. DSL users can keep their IP number as long as they don't power off their modem. I will update our IP#, only on the Warfare Inc. forum when it changes for us (alfex and CleverKathy). |

Or just hang out on an IRC channel when you want to host or play. YOu could run an "advertisement" when you are available to host. #warfare on Efnet. IM works well for one person to another, but for group chat IRC is better.

I hung out on the mIRC and no one joined. The mIRC costs $20. A one time fee, but IM programs are free and you can conference once everyone gets on. Most of the people that play this game have limited financial resources.
So i guess we are stuck with the free chat we set up at http://geocities.com/moveit12345656/warfareincorporated.html Just tap the Chat button near the middle at the bottom of page. Hope to see you all there sometime. |

Joiners for our multiplayer games have slowed down quite a bit here lately. Note the changes to alfex post at the top of this thread. Feel free to IM us if you see us online, if you want us to host a game some other time.
Why are there less people playing now? Are we getting bored or what??? Here is a reminder link on using IM to communicate with us before, during and after games: Check this out: http://www.handmark.com/warfare/forum/viewtopic.php?p=5339#5339 |

I think that if people made more multiplayer maps we wouldnt be so bored. And with the hosting problem, less people play.

It is nice to see a few new players in our multiplayer games. Verdagon is hosting now. Just IM him on AIM to start a game (verdagon).
We have a new IP again (see above Alfex post) due to a power failure last night. We had a great 4 player game this afternoon with one brand new player. He beat us all! |

I believe you can connect to a HOST using the Softick PPP app with a cradle connected to your computer. I have never done this myself because I found it complicated to set up.
Generally, if you can surf the Internet with your device, you can play Warfare Inc. over the Internet with multiple players. Good luck. |
