I'll admit it. I use Hydras most, as they tend to have the widest range of affected units, such as any vehicle and building. A close second after them, however are Liberators, due to the dreaded Rocket Troopers! In a game where I don't know much about the enemy, and am given the chance to upgrade my VTS early on, I'll crank out batallions of six Hydras/four Liberators and send them out until I know more about what I'm up against.

My FAVORITE unit, however, is the Eagle! It's all but unmatched for speed, its firing rate makes it absolutely deadly to infantry (including ANDYs!). When you need to get somewhere in a hurry, send Eagles. Unless they come up against some armor, they'll get there, for the most part. Good as scouts, hunters, or good old fashioned bait! :D

I like rocket troopers because they can deal with pretty much anything except guards.

I also like them because everyone else uses hydras, and rocket troopers are the perfect counter to them.

I'm with PhillipEarl.... Hydras and Liberators. Get those Eagles out there early and find out what the competition is building. Then I know what I have to build to counter them.

Al is way too good with his Rocket Troopers and Raiders.... just hate it when my buildings start changing color.

How come corporate raiders aren't on the list. Why blow up a building when you can own it?

they don't really have weapons and can't actually fight in the same way. Just like bullpups and dominions, which I also did not include.

Ok, then my unit is the rocket trooper. Fast, cheap and effective.

You have a point there, about the broadswords. They're weak when defending against most of the units, but medium when attacking. They would make an interesting army...

Now rocket troopers, that's a different story.

I like broadswords too, especially on an invasion. You can send them on death missions to get to the other base and have them target buildings, which go down really fast. One broadsword is almost a match for an entire rocket tower (assuming it has no repairing on), and two broadswords will devestate it.

About the rocket towers, those can be used on the offensive. Just build a forward base in front of the enemy base's entrances with rocket towers to prevent the armies from coming out. You can also target other buildings with the towers, too.

So it is decided! Rocket Towers are the best offensive unit. Hurrah!

I'd like to try them sometime. I wonder how they would work out. They sound pretty good because they're so powerful...

Yeah, and the computer doesn't know to get their bullpups away from them and they all get killed. It isn't long before the mere cost of bullpups wears down the enemy resources, giving you a quickly and easy way to invade. The only thing you have to watch out for are Cyclops, who will be able to destroy your towers from their own defensive position. Still, I always get by with this strategy. Except for once in Mission 5 of your Return of Fox campaign, where they managed to destroy all of them.

Mission 5 is nearly impossible. It took me three hours to beat!

But yeah those cyclopses are annoying. Sometimes its just best to defend with rocket troopers only. Or you can have andy nearby!

Dominions not an attacking unit? They do not need any weapons to cause major damage. I find the most effective way to win most games is to 'plug' up the entrances of enemy bases with my own Mini bases( HQ, Hr, VTS + Rocket and gatling towers) My Fav. conventional unit has to be Libs. cause the hydras have such weak armour.

Yeah, but usually, if the enemy's smart, they'll get cyclopses. What are you going to do then? You fix fix towers fast enough. I came across that idea too, but it often doesn't work.

My favorite formula sounds like a rock n roll band ...

"Andy and the Hydras"

Works well when Andy is available for gigs.

I prefer security guards. They are cheap and effective scouts. Plus they make blood when they die! (Something all your crappy eagles and hydras cant do.)

lol...

I think the ultimate strategy is when you have diagonal rows of rocket towers and cyclopses. Diagonally, units can move through, making this the perfect defense against anything--even cyclopses.
